The Mets are Cry Babies? Gary Matthews Sr. Runs His Mouth
In the 6th inning, Mike Pelfrey beaned Polacio Polanco, but it looked like the star 3rd baseman leaned into the pitch. Polanco then barked at Pelfrey, as Pelfrey seemed upset, yelling at the umpire.
Last night the choas began as Gary Matthews Senior, the lead announcer for the Phillies called Mile Pelfrey and the Mets crybabies on air.
Collins on Sarge (Gary Matthews Senior):
“I know Sarge has played a long time. I’m sure that as time passes he forgot how frustrating it can be when you’re going through a tough time,” Mets manager Terry Collins told WFAN's Joe and Evan after the first win in 6 games. “So I just take it with a grain of salt right now.”
When asked about the same situation by the New York Daily News, he said, "I don't give a ----."
Matthews continued to hype up that the Mets are cry babies.
“Tell them Sarge said it, the Mets are crybabies,” he told one of the Daily News reporters. “That’s why they lose.”
Perhaps Matthews Senior wasn't happy that the Mets dropped his son in July last season after 36 games of batting .190.
The Mets went on to win last night 7-4, and Mike Pelfrey (the "cry baby") got the win.
Look who's crying now.
